Make Your Bella Hair Extensions Last Longer

Ever wonder how to make your Bella Hair Extensions last a little longer?

Here are Secrets to making your hair extensions last longer!

* Make sure your hair has no residue left in from the removal process.(Use Extension Release to remove.)  This includes the tape in extension weft (use Weft Release to remove tape from weft) and the clients hair. If you have any residue left behind, the new tape will slip and break down faster.

* Use heat when installing tape in hair extensions! Using a little heat from a flat iron will help the tape expand and grab onto the hair and then shrink back with a stronger, more flexible hold.

* When attaching the tape to the hair, make sure you remove all excess hair that is not stuck in the tape!

* Use a dry shampoo when you can to lessen the amounts of washing. Skipping washes with hair extensions will extend your hold by keeping your natural oils on your scalp. Using conditioner will break down the tape bond.

* Avoid swimming in harsh water conditions. Swimming pools and salt water will also break down the tape bond. You can swim with your extensions in, but try to not submerge your tape bonds for long periods of time.  Wearing a swimming cap can help to prevent harsh water from hitting your bonds.

Sulfate Can Damage Your Hair Extensions

You’ve probably heard it over and over: only use sulfate-free shampoo on your extensions. But why? What’s so wrong about sulfates? What makes them the criminals of the hair world?

That frothy, white lather that forms when you shampoo or use conditioner comes from sulfates contained in hair products. Bubbles are fun, and they sure do clean your hair.

The problem is that they clean too well. Your scalp produces natural oils that nourish hair, and sulfates wipe out those natural oils. If your hair is too oily, then a some sulfates can help cleanse hair. But if your hair is dry, then sulfates can be irritating to the scalp.

Sulfates aren’t terrible. They don’t cause cancer, and they don’t irritate everyone’s skin. But hair extensions and sulfates just don’t mix.

Bella Hair X’s hair extensions are made of 100% human hair. But because the follicles aren’t attached directly to your scalp, they don’t receive the natural oils from your hair. Sulfates will dry
out extensions and strip them of their color.

What to look for on the packaging:
Sodium laureth sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate, and myreth sulfate are some technical names of sulfates.

There are many hair care options that are sulfate-free. For hair extensions, sulfate-free is the most recommended choice. Talk to your stylist for a recommendation about which type of shampoo and conditioner is best for your hair extensions. Sulfate-free products might not create as much lather in the shower, but they help maintain the integrity of your hair extensions.

Wearing Hair Extensions- Why Women Want Them

What is the point to hair extensions? Why are they so popular? Why do women love them? These are all questions that get asked on a daily basis. Here is a list of the top 5 reasons women wear hair extensions.
1-Women will cut their hair and instantly regret it. They want their long hair back ASAP. Some women also have a hard time growing their hair out once it hits a certain length. Hair extensions help them reach their desired length.
2-Women with thin hair who just want to add thickness and a little length.

3-Color! Some women just want to add streaks of color through their hair, but do not want to damage it by dying it.

4-Style. For women who don’t have time to do their hair everyday, you can get different textures of hair put in. You can get wavy to tight curls, and it will always look like you took the time to do your hair!

5-To give your natural hair a rest from day to day wear. You style your hair every day, you use heat and hair care products. Sometimes your hair just needs a break to regrow and to retain some of it’s natural oils.

Hair extensions will still allow your natural hair to grow. Hair extensions also help boost self esteem. What women doesn’t love the feeling of long healthy looking hair? Not yet a customer of ours? How to Color Hair Extensions

We have many colors of hair extensions in several different hair extensions methods. (Check our our Color Ring!) But sometimes there isn’t one that fits you or your client perfectly. One option is to dye the hair extensions. Here are some coloring tips:
  • Strand Test First. Make sure the finished product is going to be what you want by dying a section of hair before doing the whole thing.
  • Deposit, Don’t Lift. If you know you’re going to need to dye your extensions, order a shade or two lighter and add color. Never lift color. The hair extensions have already gone through a dying process, and lifting color will damage them.
  • Stay within 2 Shades. Go darker, but only two shades darker.
  • Color Before Installation. It’s easier on the bonds and on your client’s head.
  • Demi- or Semi- Only. You don’t need the permanent color. Demi-permanent and semi-permanent colors will produce the same effect, but won’t cause as much strain on the extensions as permanent dye does.
Treat the colored extensions like you would your own color-treated hair. Don’t wash them for the first 24 hours, use sulfate-free and color-safe products and avoid chlorinated water.
